Un dels principals elements que conformen la identitat sabadellenca és el tèxtil. I les xemeneies que durant tants anys van formar part dels vapors són ben visibles.
Vistes des de l’ermita de Sant Nicolau o des d’on estiguem, podem veure xemeneies perquè són a tot arreu. N’hi ha una cinquantena de protegides, entre les que queden soles i les que estan acompanyades dels seus antics vapors. Com a l’Artèxtil (48,17 m) o a Cal Grau, la xemeneia més alta de Sabadell: 52,47 metres.
